Blood Meridian, or The Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy

challenging dark
yes, it is worthy of its acclaim and hype. at times the sentences would click into place and become transcendent and the old gods of literature would shine down upon it. and other times my weak brain glazed over passages. it truly is a feat though and would be even better with a reread.

famously horrific/gory/violent but as a highly squeamish person I did okay! I also recommend having a) conversational Spanish skills or b) google translate nearby

the near-end scene in the boneyard…one of the best things I’ve ever read!
