When I saw the very first quote was from Hamlet, I knew this book would be right for me. I love me a good queer historical romance and this was such a delight to read! So fun to try and follow along with the mystery, seeing if I could properly guess who’s behind it all. Not everything is completely black and white as it seems and I found myself sympathizing with (mostly) everyone in the story. I fell in love with Will as a protagonist with his very strong moral backbone and it was interesting to see exactly what he would do and how far he would go to survive and still stick to his morals once the chips were down. While Will is used to being someone he’s not, James is earnest through and through and provides a good balance to their partnership and romance. I had no idea how this was going to end and I was totally on the edge of my seat til the very last page! Such a worthwhile read, I’d highly recommend it to everyone 🙏
