From the moment I found out two of my favourite authors were writing a book together, I knew I needed to read it. And it did not disappoint!! Four Eids is a beautiful, heartwarming story of friendship, community and coming of age. The characters have distinct voices, and they all felt accurate to who they were portraying (eg Said and Tiwa spoke like real teenagers, and in the flashback scenes like real children, if that makes sense). I loved that the book doesn't follow the typical structure of meet Cute > fall in love > breakup > reconciliation - there are different kinds of conflicts throughout, but all of them are actually important and there's no third act breakup. Issues of r*cism and Is*mophobia are also touched on, which lend a lot of weight to the story. So yeah, overall this was simply a perfect book, and I already want to reread itttt.
