Every Woman for Herself by Trisha Ashley
4.0

Quirky comfort food of a novel (and literal comfort food in the sense that what Laurie Colwin called "nursery food" appears throughout the novel cooked by the protagonist's sister). Plot is not Ashley's strong point - there's a lot of it here and while less obvious than in some other of her novels, it's interesting in how little the plot points end up having an effect on either the outcome of the novel or the reader. And yet, I find her world warm and engaging and especially so in this iteration.
