The Orphanage By The Lake
by Daniel G. Miller
This book left me feeling conflicted with my opinion of it… the first half was very slow and frustrating for me. A PI who has no confidence basically and thinks her roommate is obsessed with her and weird. Honestly her roommate sounded more shy or maybe autistic , I didn’t get any signs that he was “obsessed” with her or even really was coming on to her.
It really irritated me that she was so critical and dismissive of him when he seemed to be the only person close to her that truly cared, not to mention (spoiler) he ends up saving her in the end.
The last 20% of the book was good, I enjoyed the twist. I would have liked to have had a better wrap up with Madeline and Cho but it is what it is.
I’m very critical of books so overall it was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. I think the overall rating had me expecting more.
