South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami

5.0

The first time I read this book was in 2001. At the time I had just discovered Murakami and read everything he had written up until that point, basically consecutively. With that said, South of the Border, West of the Sun was my favorite. It stood out a bit in terms of the writing style, storytelling, length. I loved it and of course, re-reading it I still do. It's one of my favorites of his, but it didn't strike me as much the second time around. Maybe it's similiar to Catcher in the Rye; it catches you best at a certain age. Still, I will always, always recommend this book.
