i found this book to be... complicated, with characters i couldn't really route for. but i think that was the point. and despite that, i still found the story enjoyable. the writing was beautifully crafted and every detail of Hell was so intricate and devastating.
mostly though, i'm proud of myself for getting through it, especially after dnf'ing Babel. i did struggle with some of the language, but the pacing was a lot better for me. i do enjoy a story more when we are thrown right into the action and explore the past through the characters journey and their motivations.
also, slight trigger warning for animal harm, particularly towards the end of the book. i was caught off guard and had to put it down for a second.
