Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons: A Calvin and Hobbes Collection by Bill Watterson

5.0

Calvin & Hobbes may hold up better than anything else on the shelf. I recently decided to complete my collection from childhood, so this was either a new read for me or I read it multiple times as a library book, and it's just bonkers how consistently good it is — as readily able to be goofy and screwball as it is pensive and thoughtful. Even as I've aged into the parents' bracket, there's simply no better capture of imagination and shenanigans for me than this series. It does everything it attempts so effortlessly — just one romp after another, full of wildcard energy and zest for life. I adored it before puberty; I adore it now as I approach the hill.
