Robinson is often spoken of in superlatives, and while I could certainly add those here, instead I will simply say that all apply and that this book moved me greatly. Through "Lila", the reader gains an immersive understanding of PTSD, particularly poverty-caused trauma, and how, when survival is the main driver of one's formative years, that insecurity never truly moves on from one's spirit. On a personal note, this book may have shed some insights on distant relatives in unexpected ways - yet, once revealed, seemed inherently understandable, even obvious. Robinson invites the reader to contemplate, an activity that seems increasingly rare in our attention-deficit world, and we come out richer for it.
