Leah on the Offbeat
by Becky Albertalli
More like 3.5 stars.
I don't really have much to say about this book and don't really want to waste my time talking about it. I didn't like Leah in Simon like at all. I also didn't really like Abby in Simon either. The sole purpose as to why I read this book was because I couldn't not read the book. That being said, I honestly didn't miss much. I think it wasn't my best idea to read this right after finishing the Upside because that book was so good.
I flew through the book as per usual for Becky Albertalli's books. This book only really made me dislike both Leah and Abby more. I, of course, loved Simon and his lover. I also had a strange fondness for Garrett. Nick drove me LITERALLY INSANE in this book holy moly.
It was an okay book. Definitely not the best. The plot was kind of like what? Also the ending was a good ending but like felt extremely abrupt. Like all of a sudden we were just done and I was like ?????? I will say though that there wasn't really like a big like "plot twist" or "climactic" scene for me. There definitely was some rise to climax but things were all gucci so it wasn't really that terrible. I just think that Leah is extremely synical but everyone around her is so kind and caring and she just blows all of them off and it was extremely frustrating.
I love Becky Albertalli and her other books I just don't think this one was for me due to the literal main character.
ALSO!!!!! My version of this book had a small excerpt of [b:What If It's Us|36260157|What If It's Us|Becky Albertalli|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1526557927s/36260157.jpg|57912876] and OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS!!!!!!! It was only the first chapter but I am shooketh. The first chapter was actually such a grab for me! I actually laughed out loud in public twice. I never laugh out loud for books. I am so excited for this book you have no idea!!!
