The Savior's Champion is marketed as a compelling Hunger Games reimagining. In reality, it's Hunger Games meets Bridgerton. Modern dialogue and sensibilities overlay a cutesie late-teens love story, while people die brutally in the background - all of which is absolutely fine, but probably not what you were expecting when you first cracked the spine.
There are some cringe-worthy sections of dialogue, but there are other sections that are downright funny. I'm not sure one makes up for the other.
Overall, I don't hate it. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It'll keep you entertained over a weekend, but so will mowing every lawn on your block.
