Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour by Kate Fox

3.0

This book sits somewhat awkwardly in the middle between a scientific study and a popular non-fiction book (à la Bill Bryson).

Unfortunately, it is neither. For a scientific book, the text isn't rigorous enough and examples are too anecdotical, and for a popular non-fiction it is too tedious and convoluted.

Which is a pity, because it brings some illuminating and amusing observations about the essence of thee English nature - if someone actually manages to read the whole book.

Conclusion: Solid 3*.
