by Lois Lowry
After the last two hefty tomes I have read, this was a great "I can't sleep at 3am so let's finish this story I started today" book. Lowry addresses the characters she brought up in The Giver as well as those from Gathering Blue. I love it when a good thing comes together!
The story makes excellent plot progress and brings up some new and very interesting topics. Not all of them are fully fleshed out but it is actually not necessary to discuss them in detail. That would, in fact, take some of the magic of reading a story out of it. Sometimes, you just have to think about it and come to a conclusion, which is totally different than just hand waving over a plot line to make it snap together with other loose ends.
I am looking forward to the conclusion of this series in The Son.
