I settled on 3 stars for this one for a few reasons: the pacing of the first half was off so it felt like the story was dragging by, a lot of the characters had the same speech patterns/used similar colloquialisms so at times they felt indistinguishable/flat, sometimes parts of the dialogue/the characters actions were odd enough to be distracting, and while the overall tone was “let’s fix the world” there were some uncomfortable passages where I felt like the authors own biases against certain people came through (nothing racist, just really pretentious). Still, it was ultimately a fun read, I got really invested in the story during the second half, and I’d be interested in seeing this adapted for the screen as a tv show (way too long for a movie, limited series would be perfect).
