Ghostland: In Search of a Haunted Country by Edward Parnell

2.0

I'd been expecting a book more heavily focused on the history of horror film/lit and the landscape, and those bits of the book I thoroughly enjoyed. I felt, though, that the links between horror as a genre and personal loss were less true to my experience and understanding. I also felt that the biographical elements overwhelmed the book with the rawness of the memory. I certainly would struggle to recommend it, especially to anyone for whom grief is even distantly painful.
