It by Stephen King

As everyone undoubtedly knows, Stephen King's IT is one helluva book. While parts of it have not aged well, and the casual objectification of literally every female character is unnecessary and silly, the book is so masterfully structured, paced, and written that when there is a moment of annoyance that jerks me out of the experience, there is a different moment immediately after that pulls me right back in.
King's prose is fast and vicious, managing seamless characterization with invisible exposition and tension like it's no big deal. It's honestly annoying, how dense the book is, yet how easily it reads. A book that pushes 1200 pages should not be this readable and this compelling from the first page to the very last.
