Bride
by Ali Hazelwood
Ali Hazelwood might knot be everyone's girlie... but she's MY girlie for real. Sue me! This book gave me something I never knew I wanted in a story, and I would like to bottle it and cherish it forever. I love it, flaws and all!
Okay, rant time! (spoilers ahead!)
This was in no means a perfect book— I still have issues with that third act conflict (like I get the reasoning that he lied to her but... MAKE HER UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU WERE COMING FROM DAMN IT???) and don't get me started on how it was all water under the bridge afterwards because where's the groveling? The yearning? Saying I-love-you back to your mate after what you have said to her????
Like wdym SHE'S the one who went to him instead of HIM groveling to her (I know it was indirectly explained that it's because he had Alpha stuff to do... but at least before you go, explain why you lied to YOUR MATE??? GROVEL IF YOU MUST, MAKE HER FEEL LIKE IT HAUNTS YOU IN BOTH YOUR HUMAN AND WOLF FORMS.
Saying she's your mate is not enough with how you treated her! Just saying.
I need someone to tell Ali that her third acts were always missing a chapter or two for her third act conflicts to be resolved naturally and not felt rushed, like give me a long epilogue, I really wouldn't mind it at all??? And I'm waiting for that mating ceremony... but it didn't happen? Why are we skipping it, Ali? It better be in Mate. You better give us a worthy cameo because you deprived us of third-act groveling and yearning, and loving resolutions. OR. ELSE.
But I'll give it to her, she's actually improving as a writer. Maybe we'll get it from her someday!
