Sawyer

I really liked this book through about 60% ... then it felt like the author either: 1. got bored and needed to wrap it up, 2. decided to rewrite a chunk and not actually do it, leaving a hole, or 3. couldn't decide on an ending and randomized tropes on a spinner wheel. The first book in this series is tight, reasonably well-plotted, and has a believable ending. This started out so strong, with a FMC who is keeping her walls up because of loads of baggage and a MMC who hyper-focuses on saving people he loves to avoid processing his own baggage. They are instantly attracted and can't help but act on it. Once the drug-addict ex-boyfriend showed up and was more than just a passing mention/interaction, I had concerns. An attempted drug plant, lack of actual communication and an accidental pregnancy just made this fly off the track. I *may* attempt another book because I enjoy the broader cast of teammates ... but I will be cautious.
