It’s a very good book, I think it perfectly illustrates the disastrous effect that parents’ past frustrations and unreached goals can have on children, how overwhelming life becomes when your every step is dictated by what would your parents want and what would make them happy. No one should be forced to live out their parents’ past dreams and make it where they didn’t. I think Marilyn and James were, without knowing, emotional abusers for all their children and for eachother. It only shows how bad lack of comunication can be, how overwhelming holding in frustrations and painful memories and secrets can become and how it may affect everyone around, without you even realising.

I think this book should be an eye-opener to everyone who finds themselves on either side of the situation. It’s one of the best family dramas that I’ve read and I think we all could find something to learn from it.
