This was a solid reimagining of The Brothers Grimm fairytale "Goose Girl." I knew basically nothing about the original tale before diving into this book, but upon reading about it afterwards, T. Kingfisher's reimagining is very dark and has quite a few differences from the original.
I really enjoyed the storytelling in this book. I did find the pacing to be a little off and wish it drew me in more from the start, but when all the action started happening towards the end, I couldn't put the book down!
This story is so creepy and dark and features a haunted horse (yes, you read that correctly). I loved the vibes. It was the perfect amount of horror for me.
I loved that we got to see character growth with Cordelia.
She had issues with her mother for a majority of the book (rightfully so) and it was awesome to see her finally able to take back control of her life at the end. I also loved how she conspired with members of Chatham House to end her mother's sorcery.

Overall, great story and I see the vision with the reimagining. If you enjoy retellings, fantasy, and horror, you may like this book!
