Re-read

This is the conclusion of the shapes trilogy (although I don't think it matters what order you read them in - we managed to acquire these books in reverse order).

I loved the small, sweet touches in this series: each book begins with the title character waving at the reader; the publication information is presented in the title character's shape; and the book ends with all the shapes featured in that book waving at the reader.

The book shows Triangle breaking the rules, to the frustration of the other shapes, but specifically notes that Triangle is still loved. I feel this is important for young readers to hear, because children will make mistakes and they should know that the love of family/friends is not conditional on perfect behaviour.

Like every one of the picture books in the shapes trilogy, the story ends asks the reader a question about the story. Who was in the cave? This shape never does anything, showing the reader that the dark and the unknown seem scary, but maybe there was someone nice there.
