I went into this expecting a horror book...nope. It's literary "weird fiction" with some speculative/horror elements, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew that's what I was signing up for. I really enjoyed how the stories were woven together, but the collection as a whole didn't really come through. I noticed in the acknowledgments that all but one of the titled stories were published elsewhere first - I wonder if the collection would have worked better/been more cohesive if more of the stories were original to this book. I'll be curious to see what Lima writes next. Favorites were Antropófaga and Hasselblad: Triptych.
Moderate: Body horror
