While I read this book for the first time back in 2023, I recently had the opportunity to reread this novel while doing a class at university.

Red, White and Royal Blue is a wonderful example of a utopic response to both British and American society. The novel, being written by McQuiston in response to Donald Trump's election back in 2016, reflects on the relationship between Alex, a biracial Mexican-American son of the President of The United States, and Henry, A British Prince. The novel falls into many categories that the reader may seem as 'tropey', but I by no means deem this as a negative thing. The novel is fun and entertaining, while also having the depth to explore the says in which both Alex and Henry's political identities impact their queerness and their relationships. It was a wonderful read that I couldn't put down!

I also had the chance to read the bonus chapter that comes in the Collector's Hardback edition of the novel, and I have to say if you loved the novel, it is definitely worth the read. It gives a wonderful insight into Alex and Henry's future, as well as giving them an ending that I think many will be happy with.

I am excited to read McQuiston's new novel in August!
