Looking for Alaska by John Green
2.0
“that night i let her go because she told me to. it was that simple for me, and that stupid.”
2 stars is kind of harsh because i thoroughly enjoyed the messaging in the book, the references to religion & poetry/biography & what happens when we die. i have started this book so many times & am glad to have finished it. however, none of the characters were likable. & i fear there’s no big takeaway here. & maybe that’s the takeaway: we are all just awful people trying to make meaning out of nothing. but i don’t much like that, and i don’t much like john green’s portrayal of depression. so 2 stars
