i became very invested in this book after half-heartedly starting it. i knew the topic of death and ww2 / nazi germany would weigh heavily on me and still i enjoyed the book so much. it is so well-written, showing the story of a child growing up in nazi germany (a point of view that is possibly rather unusual).
the last 50 pages or so had me tearing up and even sobbing, the characters are extremely lovable and yet it‘s also informative. i recommend this to anyone who‘s ready to cry.
