Can't Take That Away by Steven Salvatore
5.0
Rating this book so highly because it was an educational, triumphant and well written story about a genderqueer teen who, like me, is a devoted Lamb (Mariah stan, duh.) Romance is not the central plot point which is refreshing! The protagonist is not presented as a perfect queer martyr and is allowed to learn and grow in a natural way. I was rooting for Carey the entire way and was once again show how truly special and seamlessly inclusive YA queer lit is becoming.
