The tale of the body thief was quite different from the previous book in the series. At first, each book gave an introduction with the backstory of each character, while at the same time exploring deeper and deeper the origins of vampires. I particularly loved this aspect, but this book somehow takes a step aside, and really focus on Lestat character.

I love a detailed lore and worldbuilding, but I also love a good introspection when properly done. And this was excellent.

Well, I have to say, before really understanding what the book was about, I find it a little slow and thought that the plot was a little bit of a joke. Not bad by any mean, but the simplicity, the predictability, the foolishness of it all made me almost laughed at time. It could’ve been really good, the idea is great, but it I guess it was more of a facade for the true meaning of the book. That’s how I perceived it anyway.

However, I quickly stop caring about the plot or what was happening, and was absorbed by the true reveal of Lestat character. I thought I had a good image of him with what was learned earlier in the series, but it felt almost superficial after reading this book.

This book may be different, but it was a really good one nonetheless. And I am absolutely certain, I haven’t loved a fictional character as much as I love Lestat in a really, really long time.
