Ferrante continues to express the human (womanly?) experience so truthfully that I often find myself confronted by my own most troubling behaviours and motivations regarding friendship, identity and humility (or lack thereof). How she manages to get me to relate to Elena, born on the other side of the world decades prior to me, so strongly, is what impresses upon me Ferrante's talent for cutting truths. My love and simultaneous hate for how understood I feel in reading this is what is keeping me entranced - literally stop calling me out like that 😭
