When her sister, Nikki, goes missing after a night out in Dublin Lucy feels as if her world has ended. There’s no sign of her sister, and the police investigation seems to be going nowhere. So when Lucy decides to take matters into her own hands and go out late at night hunting for the person who abducted her sister it seems to be only a matter of time before something dramatic happens.
At times the storyline is a little confusing. I think this is fine deliberately to make the closing stages even more of a shock for us.
I found myself frustrated on behalf of the families of the missing women. How they are presented in the media definitely seems to make a difference to how people respond to their disappearance. It also was hard to accept the open-ended nature of the book, but what a journey to get to that point!
