Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
4.0

Oh Mia, how I've missed you. Personally, I enjoy Cabot's teen books better than her adult ones (mostly because I don't think the "voice" changes all that much...she just talks about sex a little more and I really don't think that actually makes a book "for adults", but maybe I'm in the minority), but I must admit I liked this one.

It was nice to be back in familiar territory with Mia and company. I wish I knew a little bit about the years in between, but I'm grateful for what I have. I did find the allusions to sex a little awkward (like I said, maybe because the tone of the book still resembled her 14 year old self), but I love Mia and Michael so whatever.

I do think too much happened (SPOILER ALERT!!) Did she really have to discover her sister and get pregnant in the same book?!? But oh well, I still enjoyed it. I love the references to pop culture and I think I'll have to read the new book about Olivia as well (it's times like these I wish I was a mom already so I could read to my kid...and not be an adult reading a middle school book for fun!)

If you like the Princess Diaries series I highly recommend. Probably isn't going to get many new converts, but I imagine Olivia's diaries (Diaries of a middle school princess) will be well received and start a whole new generation of Genovia fans! Thanks for the wonderful addition to the series Meg! You managed to add to the story without ruining the perfection of the series before the extra book. It's difficult to do and Cabot pulled it off with ease. I'm impressed and will definitely read more if she continues to write Princess Diaries books for the adult crowd :)
