very fun foray into some more Poirot!
Another excellent plot by Ms. Christie, but far from a favorite of hers I would say. Though I would not consider myself a huge fan of golf, I guess I was expecting more golf here, which was a bit disappointing. I mean, can't you just see Poirot all dapper on the course, expounding upon the merits of "the game"? A wasted opportunity if I've ever read one.
This was the first time in a while that I've encountered Hastings as a narrator, and I was not a fan. The whole romance — if you could even call encountering her all of 3 times before confessing his love that — with "Cinderella" was boring, unnecessary, and predictable.
But this increasingly complex plot really got me in the end, so I am sticking with 4 stars here. Agatha never truly disappoints me.
