Steelheart
by Brandon Sanderson
The Steelheart Prologue is one of the best starts to a book I've ever read (think jaw-dropping awe in the first chapter of [b:The Way of Kings|7235533|The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)|Brandon Sanderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1659905828l/7235533._SY75_.jpg|8134945]).
Sanderson is a master in the same way that Scorsese is a master. You just read (or watch) everything and are blown away every time by the consistent execution of stellar work.
This was meant as a palette cleanser before [b:Light Bringer|29227774|Light Bringer (Red Rising Saga, #6)|Pierce Brown|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1667655583l/29227774._SY75_.jpg|49466217] comes out in a couple weeks, but now I'm going to squeeze in the full Reckoners series before I get blown away by a space opera
