I love a good dystopian, apocalyptic novel and this has the added element of scientific testing. Really cool concept and the beginning was great and left me turning pages quickly. However, I feel that the book did not live up to my expectations set in the beginning of the book. I would have traded the useless letters to a random octopus and the revisiting scenes with more actual pandemic content. I expected a scene where they have to face an actual sick person or I thought we would see one of the main characters catch the virus and raise a moral dilemma over what to do. I just felt like there was a lot of wasted potential and I utterly hated the ending. I like vague endings but this one was just too vague and felt incomplete. Regardless, I wanted to keep reading to see what happened but I’m left feeling a little let down.
