Spark of the Everflame

I could not put this down. This healed me from my SJM hangover.
I really enjoyed the world building and learning the magic system. Albeit quite predictable, the slow burn relationships and Diem making questionable decisions at every turn had me hooked and immediately picking up #2. Diem can be incredibly frustrating, blatantly ignoring information presented to her at moments, but I'll excuse it in favor of how much I was dying to know what happens next.
I'm hoping this next book catches me off guard a bit more than #1, but it was the perfect way to quickly get familiar with the characters and overall world.
