ā€œDamiano’s words feel like rain. They soak the dusty earth and reach all the way down to the place where my soul has been hiding.ā€

I loved the plot and couldn’t wait to see how it would unfold throughout the series. I was hook and finished this in one day! This story was so unique and the struggles that Valentina went through really made it super interesting! She was a strong FL and while still being likable. I love the fact they felt attraction for one another from the start but it wasn’t insta love. It gave time for us to really get to know the characters, see them fall for one another, and see the plot develop. I love the writing style and every mafia book that she writes I WILL read.

Some things that I didn’t like was that I get that Valentina is a strong FL but she deserved to be saved at some point 😩. I think, unintentionally, It made me not like Damiano as much. I want him to really step in and take that role. To really protect her and be there for her. I feel like he didn’t do enough. He was made out to be her hero!
I wanted Damiano to prove that he could take care of things by k*lling her ex-husband!!! He’s supposed to be her hero not her being her own. If it was a story where she’s a strong independent woman who doesn’t need a hero and that was the plot then fine.
