I read this story because it was nominated for the Hugo Award. Valente's use of language is definitely the best thing about the story. The recasting of the Snow White tale as a Western works well, and is very entertaining. Really only knowing the Disney version of the tale, I probably missed a lot of references, but it is the story's strength that it nevertheless stands on its own.
