The Bookwanderers
by Anna James
In theory, this should work for me. I like the premise and some of the ideas, but the execution didn't do it justice. The actual bookwandering doesn't happen until 60% of the way in and after that there actually wasn't that much bookwandering. The characters would only stay in the books for a page or two and nothing of interest really happened in them.
And then there was that reveal.
Nope.
I'm not going to continue the series. The rest of the books might do better with the magic aspect, but none of them will erase that piece of knowledge.

Spoiler
Capt Crewe is Tilly's father. You mean to tell me that Tilly's mother boinked Capt Crewe? No. That just squicks me out and feels very fan-fiction to me. And I could not think about anything else for the rest of the book. I couldn't get past it. All that passed through my mind was that this woman who grew up reading A Little Princess and loving Sara had a love child with her dad.Nope.
