An entertaining read.
I liked this better than ACOTAR, but both have plenty of problems for me.
I found the alchemy aspect really cool. The rest of the characters’ magic felt underdeveloped. I loved Onyx the fox. And I liked the main group of characters, although they were a bit one-dimensional.
The human / fae dynamic felt the same as plenty of other stories. And the whole fae males/females & fated mates thing is too heteronormative for my liking.
I didn’t have very high expectations going into this book, and had expected some of the problematic fae aspects. I think this helped me enjoy the book more. I did have fun reading it, but certainly wouldn’t go for it again.
