“He’d come into my life like a storm. A storm I didn’t want, one I’d prepared all my life to hate, to fight. But it brought with it refreshing rain. It cleared the skies and brought out only warmth. Zaal was saving me, liberating me from loneliness.”

4 stars. I think I preferred the first book just a tiny bit more than this one but this was still very good.

This series is just so unique and heartbreaking to read. I love the writing, I love the plot and how dark and gritty it is and I adore the characters so much.

While I had more of an connection to Luka from the first book, I still liked Zaal. His story was sad but the strives he made was incredible to read about.

Talia is my favorite. I freaking love her way more than Kisa. She was spunky, independent and she took no one's shit. She did what she want and I loved that she was trying to get away from her family's business and form her own life and identity. She's a take charge kind of gal and the way she cared for and loved Zaal was beautiful.

Overall, this was a great companion novel and I like that we still got to see what was going on with Kisa and Luka as well. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.
