The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

3.0

Before anyone gets out the pitchforks, let me first say that I did definitely enjoy this. I liked the way it was written - a very funny, light touch and such a great set of characters. Essentially I enjoyed the premise and the set-up, but the follow-through just wasn't there for me plot-wise and I wasn't gripped. I can't really put my finger on why, but for whatever reason, I wasn't at all invested in the mystery... Which is a bit of a problem in a murder mystery book. So as it got more and more complicated, and started to feel like every man and his dog had killed someone at some point, I started to get a bit lost in it all. I don't necessarily feel like that's because it was too complicated, but more because I just didn't care enough to try and follow it properly.

Basically it was a pleasant read but I don't really get why so many people rave about it.
