This needs a Yorgos Lanthimos film adaptation immediately!!! (it reminded me a lot of The Favourite). I expected this to be historical fiction (a la Ken Follet or Maggie O’Farrell), but instead I got psychological horror/unreliable narration - absolutely brilliant! I read a review on here complaining that the sapphic elements were too subtle… what book did you read?! Feminism, bisexuality, monsters, the horror of being a mother… what more could you ask for?!?!
