The Bluest Eye
by Toni Morrison
Morrison’s content is always a bit hard to read due to her ability of capturing the vile nature of humanity, but she writes so masterfully that I believe everyone should read at least one of her books. It’s been a few years since I’ve read a Toni Morrison novel. Beloved was first, Sula was second, and coming back to her work (and her FIRST work) reminds me why she is considered one of the best writers of our time. I am never not amazed. Harrowing read, but refreshing in a way where you appreciate a writer’s ability to show you human experience.
