The Dreamers by Karen Thompson Walker

5.0

I thought it was going to hit home and make me feel so much more anxiety than I already was feeling, but, surprisingly, this book brought me calm. It showed that yes, random, horrible things can happen to anyone at any time, but the same can be said for good things as well. People will fight through this rough time, people will die, but it will come to an end at some point.
The same can be said for the conversation about consciousness and what makes up time and life. I usually freak out thinking about that, but this book tackled it in a way that was far away and yet easy to attach to life. This is a thinking book, not much of a thriller as I thought. 300 pages flew by, but are still stuck in my head. Give it a read if you can handle reading about a situation that very scarily mimics the one we are all living in now. It really is a beautiful story on the human experience.
