Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa
3.0

So I originally started this book nearly a year ago. I really liked the first one, For Butter or Worse, but this one just didn't grab me in the same way so I let it languish for a long time, then finally picked it back up on the plane in my book reading blaze. I've finished five books in three days so, combined with months away from it, I don't fully remember all the details!

Things I liked: Dash's alcoholism seemed to be handled well. It felt realistic, if very specific to Hollywood types. But also, GO TO THERAPY. It did feel a bit like the trope of "love will fix all your problems" because I don't think Dash truly deals with his sobriety without Sophie. Dash's family is also a shitshow, and I wish we saw more resolution with his father and brother especially. His mother comes out in full force, but we only get sketches of his relationships with dad and bro. His sister Poppy seems prime for her own sequel, but god she was annoying, especially when she found out about Dash and Sophie.

Sophie is ... fine? She's queer, she has a pacemaker, and she's got massive amounts of anxiety. Also should probably go to therapy.

Some nice steamy scenes, but the relationship is messy.

Eh. I think there's a reason I didn't finish this one for nearly a year
