This has been a favourite series of mine for over twenty years. There have been highs & lows with plenty of laughs in between. Lately, I have found this series to be stale & uninspired, but this one felt like it was getting back to the Stephanie Plum books of old. I also loved seeing Bob the dog for the whole book, and he provided a lot of the lighter moments.
However, by this point in the series, it all feels like repetition and that we are about to verge into jumping the shark territory. The crazy antics of Steph, Lula, Grandma and everyone else that pops up feels tired and out of touch. Steph’s still chasing skips, still bumbling along at a similar skill level to when she started, and still torn between two men. I’ll still read the future books in this series, but it’s not going to have the same place in my heart as it once did.
