To truly appreciate this book, you need to listen to the podcast first. At least half of the book is buildup to the plot and just pure world building, which isn't seen much in the podcast. It's unfortunate that this book isn't very successful to get more fans for Night Vale, but if you've listened to the podcast at some point (ideally up to/after episode 50), you will LOVE this book.
