Children of the Street: An Inspector Darko Dawson Mystery by Kwei Quartey

3.0

This is the second in the Darko Dawson series and it is about as good as the first. Darko is a police detective in the Ghanaian capital of Accra, and he is alarmed when he is sent to the grisly murder scene of a young street urchin but when a second and third body quickly follow, he knows that he has a serial killer on his hands. The sights and sounds of Ghana figure largely in this novel and I think that holds most of the charm because the mystery itself wasn't too hard to figure out. The author does love red herrings so beware!
