The Ritual by Adam L.G. Nevill
4.0

4 old college friends get together and set off in to the wilderness of Sweden. Luke finds he has little left in common with his well-heeled friends and tensions begin to rise. With limited experience between them, a shortcut turns into a nightmare that could cost them their lives. They stumble across and old building, filled with ancient artifacts and bones. Old rites and pagan sacrifices to something that still exists in the forest. A bestial presence that follows their every step.

This book was creepy and a lot of fun! Great atmosphere, you really feel the panic of being lost in this horrible, suffocating forest. You can feel the tension building slowly the more you read. The mystery of the buildings and the ruins is really captivating and i was just dying to learn what was up with them. The characters had great interactions and exchanges between each other and I really enjoyed watching where the characters went. It was also great to see how they dealt with the environment. The over all plot was a very interesting idea, very creepy about "the old ways". The author had an enjoyable writing style and the story flow was pretty smooth, moving quick through the whole book. I would gladly try other books by this author.
