If I’m honest, I don’t think I currently appreciate this book as much as I should, or as much as I will in the future. But my thoughts after finishing this (9 months after starting it)? It was hard to get through.
Obviously from a literary perspective it’s an incredible play, and some would argue ‘ahead of its time’. Personally, I think ‘ahead of its time’ becomes less relevant when it still perpetuates racist and misogynistic stereotypes. It’s difficult to separate Shakespeare’s not-particularly-modern views from the content of this play.
Kind of scared for the essays I’ll have to write on this because I do not understand it (:
I preferred Macbeth
