Phoebe Walsh has just moved back into her late fathers home to clean up the house and finish her PhD. She’s expecting a quiet isolated time for her to reflect and write. She doesn’t expect her younger estranged brother to be so good natured and looking to have a relationship. Nor does she expect her handsome neighbour to have serial killer tendencies. Obsessed with all things true crime, Phoebe is convinced the neighbour is hiding something. A romance novel for the true crime junkies!

I must say, I definitely enjoyed all the true crime references in this one. They were organically inserted and didn’t seem to be forced just for the book. I could see parts of myself in Phoebe, her endless true crime facts, what could be construed as paranoia but really is just the methods women and vulnerable populations live to stay safe and her love of books and bookstores!

Overall, this was a bit slow but enjoyable nonetheless. If you’re looking for a fun romance with true crime references, this is for you! Thank you @penguincanada @penguinrandomca for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review, 3✨.
